Even if you arrive 30 min before appointment be prepared that you will be spending lots of time just looking for a right direction to go. Instead of having an information desk at the entrance you have to ask different people, follow such paper note instructions, etc. Blood work collection office have time breaks between 10:00 - 10:30 and 12:00 - 12:30, which just ridiculous as service should be provided 24 hours for emergency care. The word ‘emergency’ has different meaning here, be prepared to spend hours of waiting time and pray you will get help.

Unfortunately the quality of health care service has gone down over the past few months . It’s 100% process related with a choppy introduction of a new electronic medical system and happening during time when I have more than a year of dying with cancer and having a direct elderly parent who also has cancer care for me with cancer that could kill me in the next few months . I am grateful for the top notch end of life ,oncology and neurology care I have received from dr Stephanie Stephanie pomeroy , dr Kara Laing , dr Roger Avery , dr Susan MacDonald and the many healthcare professionals whose names I know dearly but I no space on here to list . You have not only extended my life but you have given more time to spend with the few loved ones I have left . So I have had a bad month due to my illness but I try not to forget the good things Newfoundland health service and the biggest one is the people who work in it . Thank you for all you do .

Very bad experience interms of waiting time. We came here in an emergency which I don’t think so that considered as an emergency. We talked over phone with the nurse on 811 she consulted to go emergency department immediately. But do not think so here you will get immidiate assistance. Waiting here since 11 hours but still waiting for the turn to be seen by a doctor. No words for the emergency department.

I'm here for the second time. Nothing has changed. Nobody cares about you in the emergency department. Be prepared to wait for help here forever. This brochure is tucked away in a corner of the emergency department. I'm attaching a link to rate your experience here. Hopefully, this will help improve the service.

Went in for a surgery and had to stay a few days after. In general the nurses are caring and hard working. The few nurses who really show they lack empathy for being in serious pain should find other work. I would be well taken care of all day and afternoon and after night shift starts the care would go way down. I was given the wrong medication at the wrong time and when I questioned the nurse got nothing but attitude the rest of the night. I suffered in pain most of the night and ended up complaining to charge nurse and dr in the morning and it was taken serious to my surprise. Only to be confronted by the same nurse the next night acting as if I had maligned her. My complaint was about not getting the meds I was supposed when I was supposed to and I was proven right. But then I noticed a huge decline in patient care. Nurses would come in and ask every other patient if they needed anything but skip me lol. I’m forever grateful for the nurses who helped navigate a couple very painful days especially not being able to walk. The few nurses who treated me like a jerk really made my recovery difficult and stressful during their shifts. I have worked with nurses for nearly a decade and know what they deal with so I always try and be very courteous and thankful in the moment. Overall my experience was average and it could have been great but a few bad apples spoils the bunch. In the end I requested to be discharged ahead of schedule because I had enough and would rather suffer at home. The dietary staff gets 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ they were so nice and pleasant and actually got to know you and what you liked and didn’t like over your time there. Thank you very much for that! Pre OP and OR staff were amazing as well 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for them as well thank you. In hindsight if I didn’t have any knowledge of medication and my operation I’d of prob done better. Anytime you ask questions or even slightly challenge your treatment you are deemed a problem and it’s not fair. If there was another hospital to chose from I’d def try there next if I end up being admitted again. Not a great experience overall ⭐️⭐️
